Living in Wesley Heights and Foxhall

Wesley Heights lies on the southern side of Tenleytown, just across the Potomac River from Virginia and inside of the Washington, D.C. border. Established in the 1920s, it is an affluent residential area and is one of the oldest master-planned neighborhoods in the country.

Nearby Foxhall Village started out as Foxhall, which was no more than a few individual homes built in the 1920s. It quickly expanded over the next few years and by 1927, the community had grown to include over 150 homes, causing locals to rename it Foxhall Village.

Today, it is home to around 3,600 residents. This neighborhood is just a short commute from Downtown D.C., the northern parts of Virginia, and much of Montgomery County. Its relatively central location makes it a popular place to live.

Community Highlights

One of the major perks of living in Wesley Heights and Foxhall is its close proximity to all of the great shopping, dining, and entertainment venues that Washington D.C. has to offer.

Georgetown is mere minutes away and residents have easy access to the 183-acre Glover-Archbold Park. This long, winding park stretches from Tenleytown to Georgetown University and at its heart is Foundry Branch, one of the tributaries of the Potomac.

If you are interested in science, history, or culture, you will enjoy living just down the road from the Smithsonian museums. The Smithsonian National Zoological park is particularly popular with families who have young children, but there is plenty to see and do for visitors of all ages. Highlights include the pandas, gorillas, and sea lions, but the zoo is also home to lions, tigers, and an assortment of reptiles.

Wesley Heights and Foxhall, DC Real Estate | Best Neighborhoods in Washington, DC

Wesley Heights is an ideal neighborhood in several important ways. The homes are picture perfect and the community is quiet and has something of a secluded feel without being out of the way.

Foxhall is a historic community, with the majority of its residential properties having been listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The homes here are primarily made out of brick and have been built in the Tudor style popular from the late Victorian to the Edwardian era.

These homes, combined with their tree lined streets and grassy lawns, provide their residents with an inviting escape from the bustling metro area that lies just down the road. However, all of this does come at a price. If you can afford the price tag, you will not regret purchasing one of these iconic brick Tudors. The location is hard to beat and the craftsmanship of the homes is unparalleled.

The neighborhood also includes two playgrounds and several other parks and green spaces, giving residents easy access to little pockets of nature.
