Arnold is a census-designated place located in Maryland’s Broadneck Peninsula, about 5 miles away from the state capital Annapolis. Meanwhile, Baltimore is situated north of Arnold, approximately 30 minutes away.

A part of Anne Arundel County, Arnold is a family-friendly community that encompasses a total area of roughly 14 square miles. Due to its proximity to both Annapolis and Baltimore, residents of Arnold enjoy a wide variety of dining, shopping, and entertainment options. Educational opportunities are also plentiful in Arnold, with public schools in the community managed by the Anne Arundel County Public School System.

Community History

According to history books, Arnold and the rest of the Broadneck Peninsula were once settled by Native Americans. The discovery of artifacts in Ulmstead Point shows that people have been living here since Pre-Columbian times.

As for the town history, Arnold was said to have originated sometime in the early 19th century, when a homesteader and war veteran named John Arnold came to the area and claimed 300 acres of land north of Severn River. The entire area was eventually named after him.

Today, Arnold is a small and laidback community with access to both natural wonders and urban conveniences, allowing residents to enjoy the best of both worlds.
