NOMA, H Street Corridor and Trinidad

Some of Northeast Washington’s trendiest neighborhoods, NoMa, H Street Corridor, and Trinidad boast efficient public transportation and a close proximity to commercial centers and urban amenities.

Growing families and young professionals alike are drawn to these neighborhoods’ walkable streets, historic rowhouses, and community events. The vibrant nightlife is an added draw – there’s no shortage of bars, galleries, and restaurants in the area.

North of Massachusetts Avenue (NoMa)

This rapidly growing urban center is filled with office high-rises and retail hotspots. Located north of the U.S. Capitol and Union Station, NoMa has a daytime population of about 44,000, while permanent residents total up to 18,000.

There’s a lot of action, but it never feels crowded or overwhelming. And there are several planned green spaces to look forward to.

Proposed parks include L Street Plaza, which is situated right in the center of NoMa and will serve as its “town square,” and the 2.5-acre NoMa Green, which is envisioned to be an outdoor recreation space.

The housing stock consists primarily of single-family homes, rowhouses, and condos. There’s a wonderful mix of historic homes and new construction to choose from.

Those who live here have numerous commuting options, including Amtrak, VRE, MARC, and two Red Line Metro stops. The neighborhood also has excellent biking facilities, such as a protected cycle track, a FIXIT Station, and the only Bikestation on the East Coast.

H Street Corridor

Hailed by Forbes magazine as one of America’s Best Hipster Neighborhoods on the basis of walkability, food trucks, farmers’ markets, and the wide selection of locally owned bars and restaurants, H Street Corridor has plenty of diversions to offer.

Spanning a mile and a half, the neighborhood is bordered by Florida Avenue, Maryland Avenue, F Street NE, and Second Street NE. It’s also called “the Atlas District” for the Atlas Center for the Performing Arts, a film theater that has been converted into an arts complex.

It’s known for its nightlife – hang out with friends and make new ones at any of the cocktail lounges and nightclubs. The H Street Festival, an annual block party, features live music, amazing food, and a craft fair.

The housing stock consists of row houses and condos. It’s not uncommon to find homes that have been painted a lovely pastel color, giving the neighborhood a charming appearance.

Trinidad

Young professionals are particularly drawn to the up-and-coming neighborhood of Trinidad. Two recreational centers, a dog park, good schools, and friendly neighbors make it a wonderful place to live – just ask any of the long-time residents who have grown with the neighborhood.

Bordered by Mount Olivet Road, Bladensburg Road, Florida Avenue, and West Virginia Avenue, Trinidad lies right in the center of the 20002 ZIP code.

Residents have access to the Trinidad Recreation Center and the Joseph Cole Recreation Center – spray parks, outdoor pools, and basketball courts are just some of the outdoor amenities to enjoy.

The housing stock is made up of row houses and condos. The Trinidad Neighborhood Association (TNA) addresses neighborhood concerns and strives to enhance the quality of life in the community.
